About The Training

More couples are having the conversation — and many of them are bringing it into the therapy room. This training gives clinicians a grounded, practical framework for supporting established couples who are considering or beginning a transition into polyamory.

This isn't a training about polyamory in theory. It's about the real clinical work: slowing down impulsive decisions, assessing genuine consent, navigating jealousy and control, and helping couples figure out whether opening their relationship is actually aligned with their values and capacity. If this conversation is showing up in your practice, this training will help you meet it with more confidence and skill.

What You’ll Learn

By the end of this training, you'll be able to:

  • Speak confidently about consensual non-monogamy and polyamory in ways that reduce stigma and reflect the real complexity couples bring to this transition

  • Assess the emotional, relational, and consent-based factors that shape a couple's readiness to open their relationship

  • Help couples build relationship agreements that are specific, values-based, and responsive to each partner's needs

  • Recognize relational patterns that often emerge as couples open up, including shifts in trust, security, autonomy, and communication

  • Apply a consent-centered clinical approach that helps couples slow down, repair ruptures, and make intentional choices about their relationship structure

This training is designed for licensed mental health professionals — including LMFTs, LCPCs, LCSWs, and psychologists — working in sex therapy, relationship therapy, or with clients exploring non-traditional relationship structures.

2 CEUs are available through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.

Meet the Presenter

Corie is a therapist, clinical director, and supervisor whose work is rooted in helping people find liberation from the "shoulds" — the timelines, norms, and values that don't quite fit. She brings a compassionate, direct, and deeply relational style to her work with individuals and couples navigating intimacy, identity, and connection.

Her clinical interests include sex therapy, ethical non-monogamy, LGBTQ+ and kink-affirming care, and working with neurodivergent clients. She works from a queer-affirming, anti-oppressive, HAES-informed lens. Corie holds an MS in Marriage and Family Therapy and brings nearly a decade of clinical experience, with specialized training in sex therapy, couples therapy, trauma, affair recovery, polyamory, and ADHD and Autism.

2 CEUs are available for licensed Illinois marriage and family therapists, social workers, and counselors. CEUs are provided by Counseling Solutions.

The cost of the training is $99 and includes CEUs.
