There’s nothing more important to your well being than the health of your intimate relationships.
Our lackluster sex education system has failed many of us, leaving you with shame, discomfort, and anxiety around the topics of sex and relationships. So of course you’re feeling lost, frustrated, or ill-equipped to attend to the relational and sexual domains of your life. You deserve a secure space to explore these vulnerable areas as well as strengthen your connection with your body, your mind, your partner(s), and the larger societal systems that influence how you behave and think about intimacy. The truth is, your sexual and relational life does not exist in a vacuum. Together, we have the opportunity to not only better understand how you have become the relational and sexual adult that you are, but also to embrace your extraordinary perspectives and desires so that you can become your most authentic intimate self.
The tangible tools, skills, and language you will gain from our work together will be guided by John Gottman and Emotionally Focused Therapy, both of which are evidence-based models that emphasize how seemingly small changes and empathic understanding can lead to significant improvement in relationship fulfillment. Your unique lived experiences have informed your relationship with yourself, your sexuality and your relationships today, which is why the support you will (and deserve) to receive is specifically tailored to you – not a “one size fits all” or cookie cutter approach. You will have access to a sex-positive, non-judgmental therapist who will ensure you will feel safe and comfortable exploring vulnerable topics, experiences, and beliefs. Your humor and humanity are very much welcome here!
My therapeutic approach is friendly, practical, and collaborative. I believe that you’re the expert of yourself and deserve to be met where you are, so we will decide together what makes the most sense for you in our work together. As your therapist, it’s my honor to actively listen, share feedback, and hold space for you and your experiences. It’s also important to me to ensure that you’re equipped with the skills, tools, and resources you need to support you in embodying the changes you want to make in your life.
If you’re interested in improving communication skills and intimacy, exploring new or emerging aspects of one's sexual identity (e.g., consensual non-monogamy, kink, etc.), navigating desire discrepancies, reinventing your approach to modern dating, and, ultimately, understanding how to live your most authentic sexual life, then look no further. Together we can tackle your goals in a focused, comfortable, and even playful way.
I earned my Master of Arts in Couple & Family Therapy from Adler University. In addition, I completed a certificate in sex therapy, which provided me with advanced clinical training skills and education in treating sexuality related issues. I’m an active member of AASECT (American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists) and have completed Levels 1 and 2 of Gottman training. I continuously attend trainings through TASHRA (The Alternative Sexualities Health Research Alliance) and KPACT (Kink and Poly Aware Chicago Therapists) in order to better support those with “alternative” relational and lifestyles. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology with minors in Criminology/Criminal Justice and Biology from the University of Tampa.
